About the role

We are looking for a Junior Systems Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team and build a strong foundation in Windows Server, virtualisation, and cloud‑connected environments. This role is ideal for someone early in their infrastructure career who enjoys hands‑on technical work, wants to learn from senior engineers, and is keen to develop strong skills in enterprise IT environments.

You’ll work closely with senior systems engineers and solution architects to support and improve our on‑prem and cloud infrastructure while developing your technical depth through structured learning, mentoring, and real‑world experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the day‑to‑day operation of our Windows‑based infrastructure under guidance from senior engineers
  • Assist with administration of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP
  • Support virtualised environments (VMware / Hyper‑V) including monitoring and basic troubleshooting
  • Assist with user, group, and access management (on‑prem and Microsoft Entra ID)
  • Help maintain system availability, patching, backups, and basic security controls
  • Participate in infrastructure projects (upgrades, migrations, improvements)
  • Provide 2nd level support for infrastructure‑related incidents and requests
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge‑base articles
  • Learn and apply automation and scripting basics (e.g. PowerShell)
  • Work with vendors and internal stakeholders as part of supervised solution delivery
  • Actively develop skills through training, certifications, and on‑the‑job learning

What we’re looking for

  • Completed degree, diploma, apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in IT, computer science, or similar
  • Some hands‑on experience (commercial, internship, placement, or MSP) in IT infrastructure or systems administration
  • Foundational knowledge of:
    • Windows Server environments
    • Active Directory and core networking concepts (DNS, DHCP)
    • Virtualisation concepts (VMware or Hyper‑V)
  • Exposure to Microsoft Azure or Microsoft 365 is desirable but not essential
  • Basic understanding of security principles and best practices
  • A willingness to learn, ask questions, and take ownership of tasks
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Organised, curious, and motivated to grow into a senior infrastructure role

What We Offer

  • Modern offices and a supportive team environment
  • A forward thinking, innovative business
  • Competitive salary + bonus system
  • Access to our Employee Wellbeing Platform
  • Up to 8 quarterly Flexi Days to support work–life balance

To be eligible to apply for this position you must have an appropriate Australian or New Zealand work visa.
